What will happen in today's game? The team behind the Arrowhead Report makes predictions.

The Kansas City Chiefs are still looking for their first NFL victory of the early season, and playing the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road presents them with a challenging assignment.

This past season, these two teams faced off twice, once in the regular season and once in the playoffs, with Kansas City emerging victorious in both contests. Despite this, Doug Pederson's Jaguars club showed a lot of heart, and quarterback Trevor Lawrence moved up to a new league level with some of his top competitors. In 2023, a 9-8 Jacksonville squad from the previous season is already off to a 1-0 start, setting the stage for one of the weekend's most thrilling games.

Joshua Brisco: Even in Week 2, the outcome of this game will have a significant impact on the AFC playoff picture. The Chiefs might begin their title defense with a 0-2 record, which would put them in a bad place to start the year. The Jaguars have an opportunity to establish themselves early in the competition for the top spots in the AFC. The Chiefs' pass catchers find their groove (with a lot of help from the returning Travis Kelce) and the defense holds up just well enough (with perhaps a little less help from the returning Chris Jones) for the Chiefs to win a close game by one possession. In the end, I believe both teams leave this game looking like title contenders.

Jeremy Foote It's straightforward to state that it's highly unlikely to see the Chiefs start their season 0-2 in this situation. A formidable Jaguars squad on the road will surely benefit from having two of the team's three best players back. In a repeat of two contests from the 2022–23 season, Trevor Lawrence and company should put up a fierce fight, but the trilogy will follow the same plot. Expect a more effective effort from Kansas City's offense, and even if Steve Spagnuolo's defense doesn't repeat its performance from last week's opener, it should still perform well enough to contribute to the victory.

As absurd as it may sound, the Chiefs need this victory more than the Jaguars, according to Mark Van Sickle. But like many NFL clubs, the Jaguars' franchise and fan base would value a victory against the Chiefs more since it would "legitimize" their team. According to the stats, the Jaguars' attack could present the Chiefs' defense, which limited the Lions to two touchdowns, with further difficulties. Chris Jones will return, which is wonderful news.

Travis Kelce is expected to make his regular season debut, which could help the Chiefs offense get back on track as well. As everyone wants to forget about last week's disaster, I wouldn't be surprised to see Andy Reid try to get the ball to Kelce early to establish the tone of the game. However, I also believe he will look to mix in Kadarius Toney early. I find it difficult to believe Patrick Mahomes allowed the Chiefs to get out to a 0-2 start. If necessary, he will carry this team, and the Chiefs will triumph.

Zack Eisen: The Chiefs welcome back Chris Jones and Travis Kelce for their trip to Jacksonville following a catastrophic first game. As they faced the Jaguars twice last season, including in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, Kansas City is familiar with them. The Chiefs should play better, especially on offense. Although Kelce's return is undoubtedly a plus, the wide outs should perform far better than they did last week. The Chiefs could easily win this game if the defense can perform as well as it did last week and add Jones on top of that. The team is aware that a 0–2 start would be unacceptable.

Conner Christopherson: It's a little surprising that the Chiefs enter Week 2 without a victory. It doesn't help that the rival is a young Jaguars squad with a quarterback who seems poised to make a significant improvement this season. Chris Jones and Travis Kelce are back, though. The two All-Pros will undoubtedly provide the Chiefs' passing game and pass rush the boost they occasionally needed against the Lions, even though it's unlikely that they'll be playing to their full potential this week. I believe the Chiefs are focused and motivated this week to avoid starting 0-2 despite the fact that the Jaguars will be a good club this season. This week, I've been keeping an eye on Kadarius Toney to see how his comeback game is going. He is crucial to the game in many ways, in my opinion.

John Marlow Ferguson: Even if they aren't at their best for this crucial Week 2 matchup, the Kansas City Chiefs should benefit mentally from having Travis Kelce and Chris Jones back. This group should benefit much from ten days of recuperation and preparation, as well as ten days to hear about all the ways they failed in the opener. The determined Jaguars should be able to match the Chiefs for a while, especially with that lethal Lawrence-Ridley combo. However, this game has the appearance of one in which Kadarius Toney and the wide receiver corps recover, the Chiefs resolve their blocking and third-and-short problems, and KC shows its muscles to avoid falling behind 0-2 in the standings.
